Bubz is the Bonzai-stage name for Barbra Lica …who was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. She grew up surrounded by musicians and discovered jazz at the age of six and began singing along to the music of Doris Day, Ella Fitzgerald and Peggy Lee. “Bubz” has amassed an impressive list of performing credits including collaborations with Peter Appleyard, Joe Sealy and The Brian Barlow Big Band. She was recently named one of Canada’s Top 5 Female Jazz Singers on CBC Radio 2 and was awarded 1st runner-up at the 2013 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Competition in the United States.

On May 30 2012, Barbra’s debut album entitled “That’s What I Do” was released, followed by “Kissing You” which was produced by Lou Pomanti. She is releasing a CD in Japan shortly and a Christmas album is slated for later this year. Bubs continues to perform regularly throughout Ontario – and recently in Japan – and presents a wide repertoire of jazz standards and original music. She co-wrote “I Was Just Horny” on Bonzai Suzuki’s first album and more recently with “I Think I Know” and “Work That Butt” for their latest recording.
